14. What are the extracurricular activities available?

The college has an intramural center for different kinds of games and sports activities. It is open to all Tech students and the service is free. Besides, the university has an Olympic size swimming pool. There are various student organizations which organize many activities.

9. Are any jobs available?

Yes, very limited jobs are available on campus. You can get jobs at the library, some departments, cafeteria or university police.

10. What are the provisions for housing?

All unmarried full-time undergraduate students are required to live in on-campus residence halls as long as space is available, and purchase a meal plan. However, students who have 80 college credits or are at least 23 years of age can live off campus.

11. Can students live off campus?

Yes, only if you are approved from residence life office to live off campus. You have to fill an off- campus housing approval form. You should have a strong reason to get approved. The form can be found at

We recommend you to send the off-campus approval application form with your application packet.

The climate can get very hot in the summer and cold in the winter, with rare snowfalls.

13. What is the size, setting of the university?

Louisiana Tech has around 11000 students in its undergraduate, post graduate and its doctoral programs. It is a pretty small university (rural setting) with homely atmosphere.

15. Where can we buy the course books?

The college has a book store within its premises where you can buy the textbooks and other study materials. In the bookstore, used books are also available, which are cheaper than the newer ones. You can also buy the books online which is cheaper than buying books at the bookstore. You will not find text books in the library.

16. Will there be any one to pick me up at the airport?

You have to pre-inform the International Student Office about your arrival date and time. ISO will arrange a pickup service for you. You can also send an email to Nepalese Student Association (NNA). We will then be able to arrange your pick up.

1. How to apply to Louisiana Tech University?

You can download the application form here. (http://iso.latech.edu/admissions.edu). The application fee is $ 30. You will also need to attach the financial support statement showing enough funds for the first year of study in LATECH along with other required documents.

2. What are the application deadlines for international students?

The deadlines for application are:

Fall Quarter June 1
Winter Quarter September 1
Spring Quarter December 1
Summer Quarter March 1

4. Are there any testing Requirements?

TOEFL is mandatory for admission. SAT I or ACT is optional but highly recommended. If you come without taking SAT I or ACT, you will have to take the remedial courses. Placements tests are available to replace the remedial courses.

     

    3. What is the application fee?

    US$ 30. Unfortunately, there are no fee-waivers provided under any circumstances.

    6. Are there any scholarships available?

    There is an out of state fee waiver for international students who have at least a score of 1060 in SAT or 28 in ACT. Incoming freshmen are automatically considered for this scholarship. Transfer students should have at least 18 college credits, and a minimum of 2.75 GPA to qualify for the scholarship. Transfer students have to fill the fee waiver form separately.

    Louisiana Tech has a small Nepali community of about 124 people, and growing every year.
