Maurice L. Carr is credited as being the founder of Eta Kappa Nu. The organization was established in 1904 at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Eta Kappa Nu has grown steadily since its establishment. In its first ten years, ten new chapters were formed. After its first fifty years, fifty-six chapters were in existence. In 1983, there were approximately 200 chapters, including branches of Eta Kappa Nu in five foreign countries and numerous Alumni Chapters in various cities and with various corporations.
