In 2009, the eco-marathon expanded to include an urban concept category, which is geared toward allowing competitors to create vehicles which have many of the features of modern cars while still aiming for high mileage. In contrast to the first year’s competition, our team has entered in both the prototype and urban concept categories. Our design for the urban car is shown above. We are continuing to use a thin wall tubing frame structure and then attaching a carbon fiber body. Given that the urban car is attempting to be a more realistic urban vehicle, we incorporated features such as lights, horn, turn signals, etc.

In 2010, we continued to compete in the urban concept category, which is geared toward allowing competitors to create vehicles which have many of the features of modern cars while still aiming for high mileage. Our design for the urban car is shown above. We are continuing to use a thin wall tubing frame structure and then attaching a carbon fiber body. Given that the urban car is attempting to be a more realistic urban vehicle, we incorporated features such as lights, horn, turn signals, etc. We are also started working on a fuel-injection system to further improve the fuel efficiency of the vehicles.
